Dragon Boat Charity Events

Community Dragon Boating is free to any charity that we feel is worthy of help. We often use the Dragon Boats to raise money for charity, particularly to help children, the disabled and to build hospitals. We help the Phuket Community Foundation every year.

Hotels in Phuket are especially important to us in that we have a mutually beneficial relationship. We provide groups for MICE and often they send teams to participate in our Dragon Boating Charity Fundraisers.

Competitions are funded mainly by generous sponsors who see the community value of this rich sport. If you are a sponsor and wish to help the Phuket Community Foundation please call us or contact us. For sheer fun and cameraderie this is a hard sport to beat.

Please contact Phuket Dragon Boats if you want us to assist your group or charity.

Phuket Community Foundation Charity Race Day -
Jan 23, 2012

Join the fun! Form a team of at least 14 to 16 people and help us to raise money for Phuket and have a fantastic day out.

Download the registration form here, fill it in, then email a scan of it to director@phuketcharity.org. Alternatively you may fax it to 076-224 317.

Boats will be allocated on a first-come-first served basis, so do it fast. The fee is B4,000 per boat, ie, B250 per crew member.

To have the name of your company on a flag on the boat and to wear a company uniform, please email director@phuketcharity.org with “Dragon boat sponsorship” in the subject line. An extra payment is required for this.

Crews will get a brief training session on the day from Sail in Asia’s experts, and then it’s straight into the races. If you’d like more training before, call Mike Downard at Sail In Asia, Tel: 08 7281 0458.

Mike tells us you can have as few as 14 in your boat – but if you want to be in with a chance of winning, it’s best to get a full crew of 16. If you can’t get a team together, let us know and we’ll try to find you a seat with someone else. It’ll cost you B300.

  2. No ramming, deliberate splashing or otherwise obstructing or interfering with competing boats. Penalty: disqualification without appeal.

  3. Each crew member must sign a risk waiver declaration and present it to the marshal at registration on the day. Download the version for adults or the version for under-18s, whichever is appropriate. The under-18s version must be signed by a parent or guardian.
